Well it is good to back, in fact it's great! To begin with Bob and I just want to say hello again and welcome back to our readers.
After Charlie died we really felt that the CHRONICLE had gone with him. But months after we were still getting mail and request for subscriptions. The hardest ones to turn down were the requests from prisons or our brothers and sisters from rural communities. As we answered each letter personally it got tougher.
As each month went by and I started to grieve for Charlie for he was a great friend and support I began to lament that I nothing tangible to remember him by. Till one morning in meditation I got that Charlie had left me and really all of us something very special-THE GAY PEOPLES CHRONICLE. Even if we didn't have the equipment we had the name, the experience, and Charlie's hopes and dreams. I rounded up Bob Downing who was helping me put the CHRONICLE to rest and with a little brainstorming we decided to give it a tryafter all we had nothing to lose and much to gain.
So before you is the result of that meeting. All the legal issues are not resolved but we are getting closer. Now what is needed is support. Finacial support, and volunteers. If you missed the paper as much as we did won't you help keep it alive?. If you can type, do lay out, are willing to distribute papersanything, give us a call at 881-3848. Support can be as simple as writing a letter to the editor or buying a subscription. Even supporting our advertisers and telling them where you saw the ad is help.
For those of you that can offer finacial support please do. We have a sliding scale for subscriptions so everyone can be involved.
Let's keep Charlie's dream for this city alive because it is all our dream to be united, and proud in being Gay and Lesbian and living in Cleveland. Lets go for it people!! Martha Pontoni

The State Advisory Council on Gay and Lesbian Issues will be in Cleveland on August 18, 1987 to gather suggestions for for a series of hearings the Council is planning on holding in 1988.
Joan Wormbrand, M. D., from Columbus and Reva Anderson from Toledo will be holding meetings at the Civic to hear ideas about Gay and Lesbian issues that are a concern to the Cleveland area.
